About this research opportunity
Online undergraduate students majoring in history or a closely related field are invited to participate in a 2-day public history workshop. The workshop will feature three site visits that include a museum, a historic home, and an archive. The workshop includes round table discussions about public history and working in the field, oral history training, and resume building. Students who apply for funding to offset travel costs will be required to work during the Fall 2023 semester for 20 hours on an ongoing public history project with the history department.
This experience includes an in-person portion of August 10th-11th, 2023.
All Humanities students are welcome to attend. Eng 102, 105 or 108 with a “C” or better.
Students who meet the requirements should email Dr. Kole (kkoledep@asu.edu) by July 15, 2023, with a short explanation of why they are interested in the workshop. The explanation should highlight any previous public history experience (though not required) and indicate what types of public history opportunities most interest them. Applications and financial support requests will be reviewed on a rolling basis up through July 15.
