SLC/SPA 498: Technology-Enhanced Language Learning (Small Group Research)

About this research opportunity

This course will foster small-group collaboration with other online language students to participate in a mini research project regarding technology enhanced language learning (TELL). Each research group will be responsible for determining an appropriate topic, reviewing literature, collecting data, analyzing data, and writing a proposal. Students will be expected to participate in a weekly synchronous project meeting with the instructor and the peers in their group. All other required work will be asynchronous. The overall course goal is to submit a proposal to a TELL virtual conference or scholarly journal for publication and will provide authentic research experience.

This is a course-based research experience offered in fall session B. Time commitment varies on the amount of credit hours selected. 2 credit hours (12 hours/wk); 3 credit hours (19-25 hours/wk).

Eligibility

ASU Online student enrolled in degree programs within The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.

Prerequisite a minimum of 56 hours. Targeting students interested in conducting research that involves the intersection of language learning and technology.
